Privacy statement

This page explains what I do with your personal data when you sign up for updates about The Barefoot Switch. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What I collect

• Your email address.
• Your first name, if you choose to give it. This field is optional.
• The date and time you signed up, and the fact that you ticked the consent box. I keep this as proof that you gave permission.
• Technical data that comes with any form submission, such as your IP address, used to prevent abuse.
• Whether you open an email and which links you click.

Why I collect it

To send you updates about the sneaker I'm building: sketches, samples, decisions, and the moment it goes on sale. Nothing else. I don't sell your data, I don't share it for advertising, and I don't use it to build a profile of you.

Legal basis

Your consent. You give it by ticking the box on the sign-up form and confirming through the link in the email you receive. You can withdraw it at any time, which does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew it.

Who processes it for me

• EmailOctopus (EmailOctopus Ltd, 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom) stores the list and sends the emails.
• Cloudflare hosts this website and handles its domain.
• Google reCAPTCHA checks that form submissions come from people and not from bots. This sends technical data about your visit to Google. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

These parties may process your data outside the European Economic Area. They do so under the safeguards required by European data protection law.

How long I keep it

Until you unsubscribe, or until you ask me to delete your data. If the project stops, I delete the list.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and uses no analytics. reCAPTCHA places cookies of its own to tell people from bots. That is the only thing stored on your device.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can withdraw your consent, and you can ask for a copy of your data in a readable file. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough.

For anything else, email hello@thebarefootswitch.com and I'll answer within 30 days.

If you think I'm handling your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If this statement changes, the date at the top changes with it. If something changes that affects you materially, I'll tell you by email.

This is a small project run by one person. If anything here is unclear, just reply to one of my emails and ask.
